Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 21 June 2025
These Terms & Conditions govern the use of this website and the provision of online tutoring services by Dr. Stoica Mihnea (“I”, “me”, “my”, or “the Tutor”).
By booking or attending a tutoring session, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. Tutoring Services
I provide online, one-to-one mathematics tutoring sessions through Zoom.
Tutoring may be provided to students from primary school through A Level. University-level tutoring may also be available depending on the subject and course. I reserve the right to determine whether I am able to provide tutoring for a particular course or topic.
All sessions are conducted online unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2. Free Introductory Session
The first introductory session is free.
The free session has no fixed time limit. It is intended to allow us to discuss the student's goals, answer questions and assess the student's current level.
The free session does not create an obligation to purchase further tutoring sessions.
3. Pricing and Payment
The standard tutoring rate is £40 per hour.
The same hourly rate applies regardless of the student's level, the time of day, or the day of the week.
Sessions are normally paid for after the session has been completed unless another payment arrangement has been agreed in advance.
Payment may be made by bank transfer, PayPal, or through a payment link provided by the Tutor.
All applicable prices will be communicated clearly before a paid session takes place.
4. Session Length
Sessions are usually two hours long. One-hour sessions may also be arranged.
The applicable charge is calculated according to the actual agreed session length at the standard hourly rate, unless otherwise agreed.
5. Booking and Availability
Tutoring sessions are subject to availability.
Any availability displayed on the website is intended to reflect the Tutor's current calendar but is not a guarantee that a particular time remains available until the booking has been confirmed.
A session is considered booked once the booking has been confirmed by the Tutor or through the applicable booking system.
6. Cancellation and Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide as much notice as reasonably possible.
Where a session has been paid for in advance, any refund or credit will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law and any cancellation terms communicated at the time of booking.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects any statutory cancellation or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Where applicable law gives you a statutory right to cancel a distance contract, that right will apply. For UK distance contracts for services, the normal cancellation period is 14 days, subject to the applicable legal rules and exceptions. If you expressly request that tutoring begins during that period, you may be required to pay for services supplied before cancellation, and your cancellation rights may be affected once the service has been fully performed.
7. Student Responsibilities
Students are expected to:
attend sessions on time;
have a working internet connection;
have a functioning microphone and camera where required;
have access to Zoom;
provide accurate information about their academic level and course;
behave respectfully during sessions; and
complete any agreed preparation or exercises to the best of their ability.
Where the student is under 18, a parent or legal guardian may be involved in booking, payment and communication.
8. Academic Results
Tutoring is intended to provide educational support and guidance.
Although I aim to provide high-quality tutoring and help students improve their understanding and academic performance, I cannot guarantee a particular examination result, grade, university admission decision, or other academic outcome.
Past results, testimonials, awards and student experiences displayed on this website are not guarantees of future results.
9. Online Sessions and Third-Party Services
Tutoring sessions are conducted using third-party services such as Zoom.
You are responsible for having the necessary equipment, software and internet connection to participate in sessions.
I am not responsible for interruptions caused by Zoom, your internet service provider, your device, or other third-party services outside my reasonable control.
10. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, materials created by the Tutor for tutoring purposes, including original notes, explanations, worksheets and other teaching materials, remain the intellectual property of the Tutor.
Students may use materials supplied to them for their own personal educational purposes.
Materials must not be commercially reproduced, redistributed, sold, uploaded publicly, or otherwise exploited without prior written permission.
11. Website Content
I make reasonable efforts to ensure that information on this website is accurate and up to date. However, I do not guarantee that every piece of information will always be complete, accurate or current.
Availability, pricing and other website information may change without notice.
12. Website Availability
I do not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors.
I may temporarily suspend or modify the website for maintenance, updates, security reasons or other operational purposes.
13. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Subject to the above, I will not be responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable or that arise from circumstances outside my reasonable control.
14. Events Outside My Control
I will not be responsible for failure or delay in providing tutoring services where this results from circumstances beyond my reasonable control, including serious illness, internet or technology failures, power outages, natural disasters, government action or failures of third-party service providers.
Where reasonably possible, I will attempt to rearrange affected sessions.
15. Complaints
If you have a complaint about a tutoring session or the services provided, please contact me using the details below.
I will make reasonable efforts to investigate and resolve complaints promptly and fairly.
16. Changes to These Terms
I may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The latest version will be published on this website with the date of the most recent update.
17. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of [England and Wales / Scotland / Northern Ireland / other applicable jurisdiction], subject to any mandatory consumer protection rights that apply to you.
